2021....so far, it's gonna be a better year than last. At least it seems so at this point.  Ader has set up meetings with a company who will enrich Jack's life.  At least we hope that'll be the case.

So many things to talk about. I studied for and took the California Notary exam in Redding,CA.  What a joke.  I studied for days and hours and more than likely failed.  The questions on the exam were NOT the questions on the pre-exam that I studied for days!  Very disappointing!

Since moving here, I have become friends with a couple people through the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.  I enjoy doing lunch and wine tasting and stuff with them but miss being a docent at the zoo.  It's March 2021, a fucking YEAR after the pandemic began and we're still basically in lockdown in the world but hoping to be able to tour school kids through the zoo again soon.  The best exercise I'd had in a long, long, ever-so-long time! During the lockdown I have gained somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-20 lbs....UGH

Also made a great friend in Matty, my gay neighbor with whom I bike on a week-endly basis.  He's a real case.  Lives with his partner who was married to a woman and has 3 kids.  One of those kids, a 17 year old, lives with Matty and his partner. He used to visit them every-other weekend instead of living with them, but threatened to kill his mother so she decided he should live with the dad....likely to save her life.

I'm hangin' in through another few months of not being able to travel.  Hoping Bergy and I will be able to fly to Iowa for the family reunion in July, then return to go to Jordan and Ras' wedding 2 weeks later.  Out trip to Europe may not happen even though it isn't until November as Italy and that whole area is back to lockdown.  UGH.  Just want this whole pandemic to be over.  Guess I'll go have a banana and peanut butter or an orange or something and watch TV.  Have to be up really early tomorrow to go to Clear Choice and finally have my teeth cleaned!

what next......

and the beat goes on....and on.....and on.

i’m not sure what causes some people’s lives to be so interrupted they cannot regain the control they once had over everything near and dear to them.  the how and why of this happening is way beyond anything anyone really knows.

my heart is breaking.  i am terrified that someone very loved by me and others will become depressed and so disheartened about life that he may not want to go on.  this is so terrifying.  i am talking him down as best i can but who knows what it really takes to get back to what will make you want to go on!?

i’ll monitor the situation best i can.  it’s really all i can do.

I AM SO SAD.

okay, here it is.  laying it all out there because i can and i will.

there are many things in this crazy (specially now) world that i don’t and will never understand.  here is one that is not only troublesome but stupid and it will never, as long as i fucking live,  EVER make sense to me unless and until i hear an explanation that makes sense from those which it SHOULD make sense of some kind!

so.....my 40 something year old son loses his job of 13 years because some new asshole manager of him doesn’t like him cuz he’s gay, has purple hair and goes to burning man.  mmmm ok.  that would be called DISCRIMINATION in most places but since the fucking company in which he worked laid off 400 + people in the same timeframe, a law suit would have seemed frivolous!  BULLSHIT!!

From the first time my son told me about this new manager the conversation was about how the new manager didn’t like him for ‘some reason’.  HEL-FUCKING-LO.

anyhoot....so he gets laid off and somewhere in the same timeframe (i’m not sure when this occurred) my son is diagnosed with MS.  WTflying F????  This may have been another reason for him to be laid off.  who fucking knows!

Sooooo, son goes to work for Burning Man in some high-falutin capacity as GATE something and loves this job.  BUT somewhere along the line he gets hit in the head, either by falling or other wise, and gets a concussion which is debilitating!!  WTF again!?  Later, at some point very vague to me at this point, he is assaulted in San Francisco during a Burning Man thing! Not sure WTF here. Then so many other ’things’ happen to him.

bottom line: HE IS GONE TO US.  Us being his family, his partner/husband, his friends.  We do not know WhoTF he is or WTF he is doing, or with whom.

HOW DOES THIS FUCKING HAPPEN?????  I am crying all the time.  My brilliant son has disappeared from all of us who have known him to be a solid, wonderful, brilliant, caring and stable human.

SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS.

i have no idea what to say here....it’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.  i’ll try to be online on this site to share what the hell is happening...but stuff happens to cause that not to happen...ehehehe

Okay, it is getting close to take off for my 'road trip with doggie'.  I am really getting excited.  i may run into some kinda weather, and have to stay longer somewhere than planned, but it'll be all good.

hmmmm the date now is April 2015...and I don’t know why we woulda been on yet another road trip at this time???

anyhoot...nada...no trip, road or other!!  ;-\

so...starting on my cross-country road trip on 12/2/2013....so if you have no interest in OLD posts, ignore them.  I would start a new blog just for the trip, but why?  I like the crap in this one, and if you have no interest, don't read the old posts.

Today is WEDNESDAY November 27, 2013, day before Thanksgiving.. all day i've been packing/moving stuff, to prepare to go to Ader's for dinner/people/stuff for tomorrow.  Hoping Nate will spend a nite or two with me before i take off for 3 months...

Hi to anyone out there interested in my BS

I am living the life many people will ONLY be able to dream of.  It is wonderful.  I do only what i want to do, when i want to, how, where, and WHY i want to.  Too bad i didn't have this luxury when i was, uh, say....45?  now THAT would have been interesting.....at this age, i'm rather afraid to go 'out' there and enjoy the life i feel inside...assholes would look at me like i'm an old weirdo....ugh (too bad we have to care about that kinda shit).  That age would have been perfect had i realized what i realize today....women do not need men.  Why did it take so long.  If you have kids and raise them to an age where they are human (actually, sitter-free and trustworthy)  you can go on to be anything, do anything, love the life and not be dependent on some asshole to make you WHOLE!!!  HELLO!  It is, in fact, likely better for the children if the father-figure is an asshole.

I think the last time I posted to my blog it was about my cross country trip.  Was quite a thing.
(I do love my blog: i just reviewed the history....OMG....there are so many things)

So....this is going to be a post about how I feel about the Civil Rights (50 year anniversary of same) Act.

THE 50 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF CIVIL RIGHTS, SIGNED INTO LAW BY LBJ.  JULY 23, 1964
(Ader and I recently attended the Bryan Cranston play, "All The Way", the story of LBJ signing the act into law.)

Granted, this law was important and necessary to bring into focus how America was treating some citizens!  Come on!  I don't see color of skin, I only see personalities of people....lives of people....things people do....but I grew up in Southern California.  There were no black folks in the town I grew up in, nor in the town my Mom and Dad, Grandmas and Grandpas grew up in.....they in Iowa, me in California.  We didn't see the horrible things that went on with black people.  We certainly would have wondered why the hell it was happening.  So LBJ signed into law something that would change the way 'they' should be treated from now on.

30 years later (1994) :
I am living in Washington, DC.  I am working with folks who were unquestionably affected by the Civil Rights Laws, here in the South.  WHAT?  Who knew DC was in the 'South'?  I certainly had no idea.  I missed that whole 'back of the bus'; 'white bathroom'/'black bathroom'; 'white drinking fountain'/black drinking fountain' thing...Did I live in a dream world?  I was never affected by any lack of civil liberties...I lived in Southern California.  We knew there were blacks but we never heard/saw bad things.  I vaguely remember the story about the black kids sitting at the drug store counter (now in the Smithsonian) and a big deal being made about it....but I didn't understand why.  We went to school with Mexicans who didn't speak English until they were in school.  We didn't mind, they were our friends.

Living in DC, I had no choice but to figure it out....There is still quite an attitude here.  There are signs in front of properties that say 'Reparation NOW'.  Evidently meaning compensation is wanted for the years their relatives spent in slavery 200 years ago.

I haven't been on this site for quite some time on a consistent basis...but plan to use it frequently now...retirement, ya know.... I'm planning a cross-country road trip, but have been giving serious thought as to when the timing might be best...if i left this week it would be a northern route...if i wait...it may have to be a southern route. ya know? think this is an important bucket list thing. beginning to wonder how much longer one might be able to do this! ugh. it is really too bad that kids who were born after 9/11/2001 will never know what it is to NOT WORRY about being in some kind of horrible tragedy!! I NEVER knew this kind of fear as a kid. There was the shooting in TX with the kid in the school tower, don't even remember the circumstance, but it was so random and UNUSUAL, no one really gave it too much thought...this is different for some reason...too often, too random, too weird, too often, did i say that? I plan to blog all my way across the country...please no more of this!!

Navy Yard shooting 9/16/2013

oh, my God....I hate when this shit happens, and this time it's 5 blocks away. wtf. there are just WAAAYYY too many assholes out there willing to just blow people away. This is really unreal. I ride past this place on a weekly basis....past this facility....many of these folks are there when i ride by...we wave, say 'hi'....I FUCKING HATE THIS! what is wrong with this world anymore. Guess it's always been 'iffy' but now i'm in the middle of it...I guess. Please pray for the victims and their families...what a fucking tragedy.

Are all cities like this? I don't think so!!

A lady was walking with her baby in a stroller and 2 asshole teenagers approached her and demanded money...she told them she had none, so the older bastard pulls out what the lady believes to be a toy gun until he fires it and it grazes her ear...then the bastard says give me money or I'll shoot your baby! He shot the baby in the face killing him instantly! What the fuck!

I realize bad stuff happens everywhere, but DC has a problem, a major problem, with these little assholes who are quite literally bastards! Simply put, there is an attitude with people here..(I have no reason to be politically correct, and I am totally NOT a racist)..who for generations have deemed it their right to live off the government, have children with a different father every year, and just let the children live on the streets, maybe go to school, and have absolutely no respect for anyone or anything anywhere.

If I was queen I would send entire families back to where they believe their forefathers were dragged kicking and screaming from to become slaves here in America.....history tells us many of their forefathers were brought to America by ... Guess who? Nonwhite sellers...hmmm

I have a very close relative whom I love dearly....he is black, brilliant, a Stanford grad, with a beautiful wife and a daughter now attending Stanford -

A book every young black child in the District should read is "A Hope in the Unseen" written by Ron Suskind about a Ballou Senior High School student, (in DC) a smart kid in a scary place.

Get thyself up outta the filth and do something great.....

Omg. .... In DC 18 years as of 3/3/2013

Okay, picture this.... You've been married for 21 years - your (what u thought was the perfect husband) suddenly becomes a fuckhead... And who u thought was a friend? Is his fucking mistress....do ya ever get over this? Even after he dies? Guess it is possible...but I won't....sorry. Seriously, if I EVER see her I promise to kick the ever -loving SHIT out of her! Don't care if I am 90...she's gonna suffer...if I'm 90? She'll be damn close too!! SO.....thanks to her fucking ass, I have been OUT of California for 18 fucking years as of 3/3/2013. Granted, he played a giant role as an alcoholic w/PTSD... and there was HELP that he refused to get...as far back as 1989... Asshole. Sorry. Should I forgive & forget? Probably .... Will I? NAH..hurt way too deep, way too long....she will suffer if she EVER crosses my path, anywhere, anytime!!

Americans are such idiots!!!!!!

What the hell is wrong with us!? Instead of profiling these assholes who hate us and want to blow us to smitherines, we kiss their fucking asses!! We are so fucking stupid! I am old. My dad is 92 for fucking sake! We love this country. We love this country...because...guess what??? for the same fucking reasons these asshole muslims want to blow us to smitherines!! if they don't like us or like being in the United States of America....what the fuck??? go away...go live in your country!

i hate that we can't just tell them how we feel or profile them! WHAT?????? Have we gone insane??? why can't we say what we think anymore??? FUCK THAT!!!!

From a post January 2009; We meet in DC on Memorial Day 2010 after 40 years + or - a few

So she was in DC with her hubby and we shared a delightful couple hours just chatting away! was awesome! i'm hoping they'll come back soon so we can spend days not just hours. i can see why we were friends!

okay, most of us have a past, some of us have a much longer past than others...mine is pretty long. i recently signed up on facebook, thinking maybe i would run into someone from the past. when you put things in facebook the system somehow figures out by your age or where you're from, or maybe something you say, who you might be friends with. one night i'm checking out the friends list, and lo and behold, there's a name from the very distant past. so i write on her wall 'are you the 'Jane Doe' who lived on Prospect Place in Vista?' that was all i said. so we have been playing phone tag for days and finally tonight she caught me at home.

we met when we were 12. lots of stuff happened to us and between us. we grew apart in high school because dumb stuff happens in high school. we talked about all those people we both knew and where they are now. we talked about our kids and their kids. we talked about ex-husbands, brother and sister-in-laws, parents-in-laws. where we have lived and worked. the conversation could have gone on all night. then she told me a very touching story about my dad.

when she was 11 her older sister died. she didn't tell me how or why, just that after that her mother couldn't live in the same house, or evidently even the same state, so they moved from Pennsylvania to California in an old car pulling a small trailer. her, her mom and dad and little sister. her parents didn't know where they would live or work, they just knew they wanted to be in California. as they rolled into Vista (my home town) one foggy night, they ran out of gas next to my dad's gas station. her dad asked my dad if he knew where they might park their trailer until they found jobs and could afford to move to a trailer park. my dad let them park behind his gas station until they found jobs. she said they were only there a few days, but her dad never forgot that kindness. i teared up. i guess i shouldn't be surprised that she hadn't told me that story before, kids never want to admit to being poor or different. even though we were close for many years and she spent time at our house, she had never mentioned it, and pop probably didn't realize she was the same kid whose family he had befriended that foggy night.

i'm hoping we can get together soon and share more stories. she was a great friend. we've missed each other. strange how we sometimes just let things go. we shouldn't.

these were taken Saturday April 3 on a bike ride that ended up being basically a bike walk....way too many people even at 7:30 a.m. to ride!
